Shishigatani Squash Challenge part III

Shiishigatani - Original and Cast

Shiishigatani – Original and Cast

The primary mold has been completed, and an initial pressing has been done. I now need to clean it up- I pressed the clay into the mold so I could have a solid mass to work with. I felt that there were more pros than cons for the solid mass. I can work with it longer without it drying out, and when I mold it, there won’t be as great of a chance of it melting as there would be if it were cast. To get to the end product, I will need to make a spout, make a lid and a handle. After that, more casting will be done so that multiple teapots can be made.
